GARDEN DESIGN COSTS & BUDGETS
As you can appreciate, with each garden varying in size and complexity, the amount of garden re-design work required can vary considerably between projects. It is therefore not possible to provide definitive cost estimates for your garden until we have discussed your specific requirements.
However, typical costs for our different design services are included for guidance purposes on the Services pages of this website (eg. £120 for a 2 Hour Design Consultation; typically between £400 and £1000 for an Outline Design).
However, please note that as a small local business, we aim to be affordable with a clear fee structure which is based on guidance from the Society of Garden Designers. We will always outline our fees in writing in advance for your agreement prior to any work commencing.

When setting a budget for your new garden, it is important to realise that a well-designed and constructed garden will add considerably to the value of your property and the overall cost is typically around the same as the cost of a building extension (typically between 4% and 10% of the property’s value). Most of this cost relates to the labour and material costs of constructing the hard landscaping elements of the garden (patios, walls, paths, fencing etc) rather than the design costs.
The garden design costs (payable to garden designers such as ourselves) make up typically just 15-18% of the overall cost of creating the final, fully implemented garden.
It is important to note that the build of a new garden can usually be broken down into phases allowing the overall cost of the garden to be spread out over a longer period to keep costs manageable. We are happy to devise schemes which can be phased in this manner if this helps with budgetting.
